Per Microsoft's announcement, the Project Online service is retired on September 30, 2026. After retirement, projects and associated data within the service are no longer accessible, so teams should export their data before that date.
Do I still need Microsoft Project with MeridianONE?
Only for the people who author schedules. The MeridianONE Core seat runs as a Microsoft Project add-in, so schedulers need Microsoft Project for desktop (Standard, Professional, or a Project Plan 3/5 subscription). Viewers and Contributors work entirely in the browser with no Microsoft Project license.
Does MeridianONE replace Project Server Subscription Edition?
They solve different problems. Project Server Subscription Edition is Microsoft's on-premises successor for full enterprise project management. MeridianONE re-homes the visibility and contribution layer that Project Web App provided — browser-based schedule viewing and status updates — and adds schedule-quality analytics, without standing up server infrastructure.
What about PWA timesheets and enterprise resource engagements?
MeridianONE does not replace timesheet collection or enterprise resource engagements. Its Resource Loading capability provides resource analysis views over the schedule, not time capture. If those PWA features are central to your workflow, you'll want a dedicated tool for them alongside MeridianONE.
Can we run MeridianONE without any cloud at all?
Yes. Local Mode runs the add-in and a locally hosted dashboard entirely on the scheduler's Windows machine with zero cloud egress — built for air-gapped, closed-area, and sensitive-data environments.
How do we transition from Project Online?
